Stree 2 is going to have a blockbuster start at the box office on Thursday, August 15. The film's performance in advance booking is looking great and there is still one day left for its release. In such a situation, it is on its way to becoming the biggest Bollywood opener of the year. According to the report of trade website Sacnilk, this film of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao sold more than 2.2 lakh tickets on the first day and earned Rs 7.04 crore by 12 noon on Tuesday, August 13. The film will soon surpass the advance booking record of 'Fighter' and 'Kalki 2898 AD' Hindi. Both had earned Rs 8.60 crore from pre-sale business.
Stree 2 will leave Kalki 2898 AD Hindi and Fighter behind at the box office on the first day Stree 2, which is the second film of this franchise, is expected to get an opening of Rs 25-30 crore. This will be the biggest opening of any Hindi film this year. It will also be the biggest Bollywood opener for Shraddha and Rajkumar. In fact, if there is a slight increase in spot bookings on Thursday (August 15), the final opening day numbers for the film could be more than Rs 30 crore and then everything else will depend on how the film gets response from the audience and critics.
Stree 2 is riding high on its legacy of delivering solid content with strong performances. Once there is good word-of-mouth, it could cross the Rs 100 crore benchmark in its first long weekend itself. The film is directed by Amar Kaushik and stars Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee in the lead roles.
