Review
Kingdom tries to mix action, drama, and emotions. The first half is slow. It spends a lot of time setting the background and characters. Some scenes feel too long. But after the interval, the movie becomes more exciting and emotional.
Vijay Deverakonda has done a great job. He looks strong, acts well, and gives a powerful performance. His emotional scenes are very good. Bhagyashri Borse and Rukmini Vasanth also did well in their roles. Their chemistry with Vijay is simple but sweet.
Director Gowtam Tinnanuri, who earlier gave good emotional stories, has tried something new with action and politics. He has done a decent job. But the editing could have been better. Some scenes were not needed and made the movie feel longer than it is.
The cinematography by Girish Gangadharan is beautiful. The village scenes, fight scenes, and dramatic moments are shot nicely. The music is okay, not very memorable but fits the film’s mood. The background score in emotional and fight scenes is good.
Production values are high. The movie looks big. But the long runtime is a big minus. It could have been better with 30 minutes less. Sometimes the story goes off track. It tries to say too much and becomes confusing.
Still, some scenes will stay with you. Especially the ones where Vijay speaks about truth and justice. Those are powerful and make the movie worth watching at least once.
If you liked movies like Raid 2 or Kesari Veer, then you might enjoy Kingdom. It's more serious and emotional than massy or fun. It's not perfect, but it has heart.
