Son Of Sardaar 2 Review: It Fails to Entertain Audience Like the Fun Son Of Sardaar

Son Of Sardaar 2 is a Hindi comedy film released in 2025. It is a sequel to the 2012 film Son Of Sardaar, which was loved by the audience for its humour, action, and lively performances. But this time, the film does not make the same impact. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the film stars Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, and Sanjay Mishra in main roles. Sadly, Son Of Sardaar 2 doesn’t entertain much and feels like a weak copy of the original.

The movie has an IMDb rating of 5.1 out of 10. On social media, people gave mixed reviews. Many said the film is boring, slow, and not funny. A few fans of Ajay Devgn liked some scenes, but most were not happy. Our rating for this film is 3 out of 5.

Review

Son Of Sardaar 2 tries to make people laugh and feel happy like the first film. But this time, the story is not strong. The jokes are not very funny. The film looks colourful, and the actors try their best, but the script is not good. The emotions are forced. The action scenes are also not very exciting. This movie feels old and slow in many places.

Story

The story is about Jassi (Ajay Devgn), who comes back to help a young couple get married. But he lies and tells people he is a war hero. The story follows how he handles this fake story while dealing with funny and emotional situations. The idea sounds okay, but the screenplay is not fresh. Many scenes feel like you’ve seen them before in other movies.

  • Ajay Devgn as Jaswinder "Jassi" Singh Randhawa
  • Mrunal Thakur as Rabia

  • Chunky Panday as Danish
  • Sharat Saxena as Ranjit Singh
  • Mukul Dev as Tony (posthumous appearance)
  • Vindu Dara Singh as Tittu
  • Roshni Walia as Saba
  • Sanjay Mishra as Bantu Pandey
  • Ashwini Kalsekar as Premlata

  • Guru Randhawa as himself in “The Po Po Song” (special appearance)

Acting

Ajay Devgn gives an okay performance. He tries to bring charm to his character, but the script does not support him. Mrunal Thakur looks pretty but doesn’t get many powerful scenes. Ravi Kishan is loud but funny in parts. Sanjay Mishra is the best in this film. He adds some good comic moments. Other actors like Deepak Dobriyal and Chunky Panday are average.

Direction

Vijay Kumar Arora directs this film, but he fails to give it life. The first Son Of Sardaar was full of fun and action. This one feels lazy. Many scenes are long and slow. Comedy timing is poor. The emotional parts are also weak. The film had a chance to be funny and touching, but the direction is not strong enough.

Critical Response

Critics were not happy with Son Of Sardaar 2. Most reviews said the film is boring and not funny. Critics liked Sanjay Mishra’s comedy and a few action scenes, but said the movie is not fresh or smart. Some reviews also pointed out that the film feels old and the jokes don’t work anymore.

  • Sanjay Mishra’s comic scenes
  • Some moments of light-hearted fun
  • A few good emotional scenes

Minus Points

  • Weak story and screenplay
  • Comedy does not work
  • Poor direction
  • Slow second half
  • No freshness in dialogues or jokes

Technical Department

The camera work is good. The film looks bright and colourful. Editing could be better—many scenes feel stretched. Background music is loud but not helpful. The action scenes are okay but not very creative. The film's production value is high, but storytelling is weak.

Music Review

The songs in Son Of Sardaar 2 are not very memorable. “The Po Po Song” with Guru Randhawa is just okay. Other songs do not stay in your mind. The romantic song is average, and dance numbers do not bring much energy. In short, music is disappointing compared to the first part.

Verdict

Son Of Sardaar 2 had a good idea and a good cast, but it is not a good film. It tries to repeat the charm of the 2012 film, but fails. The comedy is weak, the story is poor, and the direction is lazy. Fans of Ajay Devgn might enjoy a few scenes, but for most people, this film is boring and disappointing.
